PORT REPLACEMENT!

Today we had to go to the hospital for my port procedure. Which I thought was just them pulling the tubing down but that is not what happened. They replaced and repositioned the port so now it is a little higher and the tubing goes into the jugular in my neck. I was told no lifting with my left arm so it doesn’t mess with the placement which means no work then for 4 days. Not too happy about that but what are you gonna do? Right now I’m in pain hoping it subsides soon. With this repositioning I sure hope it helps with the chest pain and tightness I’ve been having after my previous treatments. I will find out this coming week so fingers crossed. Until next time!

HAPPY DAYS!

Jan. 26 Had an amazing trip to michigan to celebrate lil Harpers birthday!! I just can’t believe she is 1 already! How time flies! I know I shouldn’t think sad things but celebrating her birthday just makes me think how many birthdays will I get to be here for. I have been very positive for most of this journey but i have my bad thoughts every once in a while. I always try to push those thoughts away but with this cancer diagnosis it makes you wonder. But I will continue to be positive and kick this cancer in the ass so I can be here for a long time! On a medical note.. the oncologist decided that after the port study and still having that chest tightness on the right side that we will go ahead and do a procedure to lasso the end of the tube and “pull” out down in hopes that will help!! I will keep everyone posted on when that will be and how it goes!!

TREATMENT #6 KICKING CANCERS ASS!

Jan. 20 Today started round 6! I don’t have the chest tightness right now which is great! They said to start taking my heartburn meds twice a day bc I get bad heartburn usually Tuesday or Wednesday the week I’m hooked up! They also said if the tightness in the chest comes back they might redo the port or go through the groin and lasso the end of the tube and pull it down more into the vein.  The neuropathy definitely got worse! Calves are tingly even before we left treatment. Hands are still ok if they stay warm!

PORT FLOW STUDY!

Jan. 16 I had my port flow study yesterday, that consisted of them injecting dye into the port to check that it is working properly. The dr had an issue getting blood because a sheath built up at the end of the port which doesn’t allow anything to be drawn out but there is no issue getting things in. So they gave me a drug called tpa to break up the sheath. I had the study done because I have had a lot of pain/ pressure on the right side of my chest during and after infusion. I am not sure if they will be doing anything about the port I guess I will know more when I go for infusion on Monday!!

HEARTBURN... UHHHHH!

Jan. 9 So it seems to be a trend that either Tuesday night or Wednesday I have terrible heartburn. Like can’t sleep and don’t want to swallow the saliva I have in my mouth! Was able to fall asleep around 4 am so I’m a little tired today!  I have been having chest tightness Tuesday to Friday or Saturday the weeks I am hooked up. So the doctor is requesting I get a port study done to make sure it’s not the port. That will be a trip to the hospital and they inject dye into the port and take xrays. I will keep everyone posted on how that goes!!

TREATMENT #5

Jan. 6 Today I started round 5 of kicking cancers ASS!! We got our ct scan results today and so far it is working. He said that things are shrinking and that the liver masses don’t look as “dense”. We will continue on this journey for 2 to 3 more months and then do another scan to see how things are progressing! I am very glad that things are heading in the right direction so far. I am a firm believer that my positive attitude is 90% of this battle. I am thankful that my side effects have been minimal although the cold sensitivity is still progressively worse everytime. This is the time I am wishing for warm weather and happy that we have had such mild temps in Illinois the last couple weeks!

UNHOOK + EMERGENCY ROOM TRIP!

Jan. 6 Well I am still having the chest pain/tightness while I am hooked up and it will last for a few days after unhook. So we decided to hit up the ER just to make sure it isn’t my heart. They ran some test which showed low potassium so they gave me some potassium pills to take for a week. They also did a chest CT to rule out any blood clots. Which came back clear so I got to come home last night. Glad it’s not blood clots but that means it is probably just a side effect of the treatment which stinks if it will continue to happen everytime.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Jan. 1 Hope everyone had a fun and safe new years eve! We stayed in and had my traditional meatballs and cheese ball. Yummm! We played some board games and watched some Dick Clark rocking new years eve! Unfortunately I feel asleep at 1030 but don’t you worry the fireworks woke me up at midnight!!  I am anxious and excited to see what this CT scan will show. Hoping for great results! I will keep everyone posted when we find out the results!  HAPPY NEW YEAR! let it be the best one yet!!
